5 Reasons To Write
Articles

It has been stated widely and often that writing articles
is one of the best ways to promote your business. In case you are still
wondering about the value of writing articles, here are 5 reasons why you
should.
1. They give you a foundation for an ezine.
I may be in the minority, but the newsletters I am most drawn to are the
ones with original articles. Even if they are only or primarily about the
ezine publisher, if they are well written, they invite readers. You of
course don't have to publish an ezine to write articles, but the two go
together in a powerful way.
2. They make your ezine unique.
If your article is well written, it will carry something of your
personality. If it is truly informative, so much the better. I am most
likely to read an article if it contains information that I know I won't be
likely to see elsewhere. I also make sure I read that ezine when it comes.
Of course, I am also more likely to read whatever else is in that issue.
Isn't that how you want your subscribers to feel and react?
3. They lend an aura of authority.
The proliferation of online newsletters has given untold writers the
opportunity to be seen and read by more people than any other medium I can
think of. This platform puts the writer in a position of authority on the
subjects being written about. But an aura can quickly wear off if there is
no substance beneath it. Stick to the areas you have good knowledge about.
4. They spread awareness of your business.
Most articles are written for an immediate audience in an ezine. However,
don't miss the benefit and viral possibilities of getting your articles
published in lots of other places. Even beyond the customers an article may
bring directly to you, your search engine ranking can also be improved as
your article with embedded links shows up on a variety of other sites.
5. They offer the opportunity to clarify your thoughts.
Let's face it, of the thousands of thoughts that go through our minds each
day, only a few stay long enough to become clear and cohesive. The average
for what we say isn't much better. But the things we write stubbornly sit
there in front of us, inviting evaluation and improvement. Take this
opportunity to really think about what you have written, and evaluate its
content, logic and flow. You may be amazed at the benefits of this exercise,
not only for your writing, but for your thinking and speaking as well!

of article writing. In the meantime, I hope these "whys" are enough to get
you started on that article lurking in your mind!

Dealing with Spam
It seems that the subject of spam, spam
filters and their consequences to Internet businesses pops up in this
newsletter almost every issue. I'm sure it is something you think about
often also, whether it's because your response rates are down, because you
are having to delete more spam/junk emails, or because you click Remove Me,
only to find that the email address was bogus.
I don't have any new answers, but wanted to

Selling Backend Products

When selling on the internet ask anyone who really
knows and they will tell you that selling a
backend product is where the money really is. You
are looking for repeat customers. They will make up
most of your in^come.
Well, what if you only sell one product? On the
internet you have plenty of choices. There are
thousands of affiliate programs out there. They
are the perfect backend product. Find one that
matches your site and what you are selling for
instance I have an herb ezine I sell targeted
advertising for alternative medicine sources. My
perfect backend product for this site is an herb
affiliate program or a vitamin program, a weight
loss program. They are all perfect backend
products for me. Any of these programs will bring
you extra in^come with no extra work on your part.
To make the most backend in^come you need to sell
affiliate products that are related but not
competitive to your product or program.
The best way to sell repeat customers is to follow
up on them. However you don't want hard sell them.
Your customers are your most valued asset and you
should let them know this.
-Give them fr^ee stuff
for instance I give them a fr^ee ad. If their ad
does not do too well I run it again.
-Give them dis^counts If they buy an advertising package I give them dis^counts.
I always try to give my loyal repeat customers a sale that no one else
gets.
-Off^er special bonuses you didn't advertise
Here's a sample outline to follow-up on your
customers.
Message 1: Right after a purchase I follow-up with
a thank you letting them know how they can get
other products.
Message 2: 2 Days later- check up. Ask them if
everything has gone well with the product and if
they need any help. This is where I ask my
advertisers if they got good results from their
ad. If not I run it again for fr^ee.
Message 3: 2 Days later- surprise bonus In this
email give them a special bonus that was not
mentioned in your sales letter. I give them at
this point a fr^ee article about themselves in my
ezine. Not only do I get the pleasure of knowing
who they are and what they sell but other
subscribers get to know them. It gives my
customer some good advertising. Win, Win.
Message 4: 5 Days later- testimonial letter Ask
them what they though of your product, if they
give you good comment ask if you can quote them.
I have a lot of nice words come to me this way,
which gives me valuable testimonials.
Message 5: 2 weeks later I off^er them a bonus
product - maybe a subscription to my paid ezine
at a reduced rate. I have been allowed to get to
know a lot of my loyal customers really well this
way. Building a relationship is what it is all
about. Be authentic - it comes through to the
customers.
