Surprising News

As you may have already heard Mark Joyner is leaving the Internet marketing business.

This guy has pioneered two industries, created technology that shot him to business stardom, created some of the most innovative and powerful marketing weapons known to man...

And ONLY now he's compiling it all, source code and
everything, onto CD and giving it to the first 2,000
(actually 983 as of today) who respond.

And here's how you could benefit in the process...

How to Write Articles (part I)
By Glenn Gordon
(c) Glenn Gordon - All Rights reserved

I, along with many others, have pointed out the value to your Internet business of writing articles. See a previous issue of the BusinessBuilder for an article on that subject.

But many are stopped cold at the prospect of actually doing the writing, no matter how valuable it may be. Visions of high school English classes come to mind, with the teacher intoning about the theme paper you were supposed to write, while your mind was a thousand miles away with no intention of returning. I can't make Pulitzer Prize winners out of anyone, but can make some suggestions that can prime the pump.

1. You can talk, can't you?
Many types of writing dictate a specific style, and the product won't be accepted unless it fits that mold. But writing for an Internet audience is vastly different. You are writing to your friends - you just haven't met most of them yet! If you can speak in complete sentences, more than likely you can be at least modestly successful writing articles also. Keep the slang to a minimum, but otherwise feel free to write as you would talk. In an informal environment, that style is the most readable and conveys a sense of your personality, which is important to connect with your readers.

2. You have a topic, don't you?
I have seen articles where it wasn't clear what the topic at hand actually was. You don't have to be the world's expert on a topic, but you need to pick one in which you have some interest and have spent some time thinking about. I settle on article topics based on some interest (or problem) I have, or seeing some subject of interest to Internet businesses being mentioned by several other people.

3. You know your topic, don't you?
Besides having a clear topic in mind, you need to bring yourself to a level of understanding that is above most of your intended audience. While a lot of general knowledge about a topic may already be in your head, you will usually need to do a little research to pull things together. I am a compulsive resource gatherer, partly to have material to help keep you up to date, and also just to enhance my own knowledge. I keep text files on a variety of topics to which I add new articles or web page addresses. My file on tips and hints for the BusinessBuilder is now 43 pages long! But I don't have time to go around collecting information, you are saying. My reply is, if you are interested in growing your business, you must be on the lookout constantly for useful information, and store it in an accessible fashion. Just a little bit every day can add up quickly and be resources for a variety of uses, not just writing articles. For example, since I write e-books I am always interested in new compilers, PDF makers, etc. I keep a file on that topic and when I read about a new tool that allowed PDF files to be branded like EXE e-books have for some time, I decided it was time to collect my resources and write an article summarizing the current status of EXE compilers and PDF makers. The result appeared here, a few issues ago. Did it cover the topic perfectly? Of course not, but it was way ahead of what most people knew who hadn't spent any time collecting information on that subject. This kind of article, when reasonably well-researched, is among the most popular and useful, because it saves the reader lots of time and effort. And it brands you, the writer, as someone who knows his or her stuff.

So start building those files of useful information, and I will cover some of the mechanics of article writing in a later issue.

The Spam Corner

A couple of items related to spam and spam filters have caught my attention since the last issue. One is the spam catchers contest conducted by Yahoo, where they offered free service for those who turned in spammers. Because ezine publishers saw themselves open to spam accusation by Yahoo members, many of them sent notices to their subscribers, advising them that their Yahoo addresses would be terminated. The contest has ended and I haven't heard any specific reports of false spam accusations, but I'm sure it did occur. Just another indication of the dangers to ezine publishers (and anyone doing email marketing) of the effort to control spam.

A second item is another company offering services similar to the Cognigenmail mentioned last time. This one is called Spamarrrest. Seems to do basically the same thing but at lower prices. Mail which is not from a confirmed address is held. The sending address is confirmed if it responds to a request for confirmation (only required one time). Spammers won't reply to the confirmation request, so their mail is never delivered. Your existing address book can be confirmed by you, so your friends don't have to go through the confirmation process. Pretty nifty. You can read the details here.

Third is a new product from Qurb. The software, also called Qurb, creates and maintains a list of approved senders by scanning users' Microsoft Outlook folders. Senders who don't make the cut are relegated to the Qurb folder, which is created when the application is installed. A free evaluation copy can be downloaded at www.qurb.com; a one-time software license costs $24.95. Versions of Qurb for Outlook Express and Exchange are in the works.

And, don't forget the NewsMon service I mentioned last time. I have lots of new subscribers this time so want to repeat the function and value of this service. It is especially applicable for publishers like me, and ezine readers like you! You start by downloading a free application. You register for eines you want to receive. Each day, the NewsMon application checks to see if there is a new issue of any of your ezines. If so, you can click to view them online. In other words, using Newsmon removes the email equation from ezine delivery. No email, no spam filter problems. Go to www.newsmon.com to get details. I have registered with them, so you should be able to set up to receive notice of the BusinessBuilder, including this issue. This is a new service, so don't expect a lot of ezines to be signed up yet. If it works as advertised, however, it could be a boon to both publishers and ezine subscribers.

Also, you should keep watch for a new product about to be released by Michael Glaspie that will also address the spam issue. Look here for details.

Personalizing Your Site

Is your web site dynamic enough to address your visitors by name?  If you are interested in learning how, read this article by Steve Shaw.

Selling Info Products Through The Magic Of Endorsements

by Detlev Reimer

It's a proven fact that only about 5-7 internet marketers out of 100 are making serious money from their online activities. The rest aren't making enough to stay motivated so most of them quit before they can even reap some rewards of their online business...

The Money Is In The Relationship (The List) ...

Often, when an internet marketer is asked what his most important value in his business is, he will say it is his mailing list. By contacting his subscribers on a regular basis, the people on his list have learned to trust him, the ezine publisher, as a real person.

This means, these subscribers will also trust the personal recommendations of the newsletter publisher (if he's doing a great job of informing them). Generally spoken, if you as a publisher are doing it right, you can create CASH ON DEMAND.

It's just a matter of responsiveness of the people who are on your list.

Terry Dean made about $33,000 in 3 days when he had been asked to prove he could make $10,000 at any time he wanted. He succeeded by sending a personal message to his mailing list. But it's not all about quantity (the more often you mail, the more money you make?). You have to deliver QUALITY
information and educate your subscribers if you want to make sales.

Give Quality Information For FREE

The success is primarily based on the quality of information the publisher gives away for free to his list. The better the information, the more products he also will SELL. Subscribers will think : "If he gives that great information away for FREE, how much more value must his paid info products possess...?"

The buying process also becomes a way of saying thank you to the publisher who has been giving them so much without asking a single dollar for it.

Tap Into Relationships Of Other Publishers

At some point, your own list will not be sufficient enough to make additional sales; it is saturated then. So you'll have to find a new list, new prospects. Your goal is to find quality publications which don't carry just a bunch of ads in the newsletter but rather give a lot of useful information to their readers.

This assures that the newsletter is really read by their loyal subscribers. If you ask very well known internet marketers to endorse your product to their list, you better make sure that your offer stands out. These top marketers get offers for Joint Ventures every day and they can't accept everything.

Offer them at least 50% or higher of the profits. If you get to capture email addresses of the visitors from that publisher's endorsement campaigns, you can still work the backend and sell other related items.

There's Nothing More Powerful Than An Endorsement

Give your JV partner a sample/demo copy of your product. If you want him to write powerful endorsements, he must be a user of your product. Only then he will be able to convince his own readers of the quality.

He has got to talk about the benefits which his readers would receive so you'd better make sure, he knows what exactly those benefits are. Nothing's worse than somebody who's endorsing a product just by repeating what the sales letter already says about the product.

The endorser has to talk about how the product personally has helped him; how he achieved a certain result just by using it. THAT will be powerful and convincing and can actually at least triple your sales .

Approach Other Publishers With A JV Proposal

Why haven't you already started using this powerful method ? If you don't ask, you won't make additional money...You can use this strategy even with products you haven't produced yourself but only have resell rights to.

A first list to find some interested publishers can be found at Terry Dean's Bizpromo site :

http://www.bizpromo.com/ezinetrades.htm

If you haven't got this internet marketing strategy in your arsenal of personal promotion tactics, you are losing valuable market shares to your competition. It's cheap (FREE!) and very effective.

In fact, you cut your checks more than necessary if you're not using it...
