A niche business that can fit many niches - that's one way to describe
selling re-packaged public domain content. Apparently some people are doing
very well in this arena. Yanik Silver is one, and is making available a

No doubt about it.
"Sp~am" (unsolicited commercial email) threatens to paralyze and
ultimately destroy the email system as it currently exists on the
Internet.
Anyone with an email address can attest to the fact that the avalanche of
Sp~am has only increased in the last year and shows no sign of stopping.
However, the current system many Internet Service Providers (ISP's) use to
deal with Sp~am may just destroy the Internet's email system long before
the Sp~ammers do.
Now, I won't deny that the weight of the Sp~am on any ISP's resources can
rate very significant.
It's been estimated that between 30-60% of all email now sent is Sp~am!
This means that 30-60% an ISP's system resources (bandwidth, hardware,
system maintenance) go towards delivering messages nobody wants to
receive.
Out of self-defense, many ISP's turn to third party services like SpamCop,
SPEWS (Sp~am Prevention Early Warning System), and SpamHaus to help them
identify sources of Sp~am and block the messages before their email
systems get clogged.
No Trial - No Defense - Guilty!
In theory, it's a great system.
In practice, it creates a situation resembling a witch hunt where the
accused gets burned at the stake without a trial, let alone the ability to
face their accuser. Here's how the system works.
Let's say a business habitually sends legitimate email to its customers or
prospects who asked to receive the email.
As long as nobody complains, life proceeds as normal.
But then let's say one of those people forgets they opted in to the
business's email list and reports an email message as Sp~am to one of the
services I mentioned above.
Result: the business gets blacklisted by one or more of
these services and ISP's in turn automatically block email (legitimate
email) sent by the business to its customers and opt-in subscribers.
To make matters even worse, nobody at these anti-Sp~am services bothers to
let the business know they've been blacklisted.
When the business finally discovers their status and tries to contact
SpamCop, SPEWS or SpamHaus, the real fun begins.
If the business does discover which service(s) blacklisted them, they'll
find they can't call anyone on the phone to discuss the problem.
They also discover these services are totally unregulated and there is no
higher court of appeals.
Any email responses from these services often contain a smug attitude of
assumed guilt that scoffs at your claims of innocence.
Also, don't bother asking for the opportunity to face your accuser in
order to prove your innocence because they get to hide behind a cloak of
anonymity.
Combining this attitude of assumed guilt with the inability to prove your
innocence creates a recipe for disaster for every legitimate business.
Oh, by the way, while writing this article, I received 19 Sp~am email
messages through an ISP monitored by all 3 anti-Sp~am services.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
In the end, the current system only creates opportunity for abuse that
targets legitimate businesses while the real Sp~ammers just merrily keep
sending their flood of email.

Why eBooks Bring Their Authors
More Money Than Print Books Do

Recently I was talking with one of my favorite Internet
information marketers, and he brought up a point that I've noticed before
and perhaps you have, too.
It's this: People pay more money for fewer pages - fewer words - with ebooks.
And the smart ones do so gladly.
In this article, I'll show you how to cash in on this trend yourself as an
information marketer, while at the same time providing your customers with
FAR more value than they have paid for.
Let's get one thing out on the table. On the face of it,
paying more money for fewer pages sounds like a paradox, at best - or a
scam, at worst.
But I am convinced the high-priced information I have
purchased has been some of the best money I've ever spent. And I bought a
lot of this kind of high-priced information long before I ever heard of
ebooks, or other kinds of Internet-marketed information.
Today, I feel the same way. Here's why:
Ebooks (good ones, anyway) provide something you just can't get in a
traditional printed book. Often, you'll find an "expensive" ebook (at, say,
$97) is a bargain, compared to any other way of getting the same
information: $500 an hour for a consultation from the handful of people who
know the information; $1300 for a seminar; or even more to get into an
exclusive mentoring program with the author.
How can it be that information is worth so much?
It's because systems of specialized knowledge that help you solve a problem
and/or achieve a goal - information and techniques that really work - are as
rare as a four-leaf clover, and will bring you at least as much good
fortune.
Books you find in the bookstore often have good information in them, but
rarely do they go into enough depth, or have a narrow enough focus, to give
you what you really NEED to solve a difficult problem.
In plain terms, there are few "real books" that can make you money, or save
you money, time, or effort, in a unique and highly valuable way.

Now I am sure that you can find books in the bookstore on many or all of
these topics. I am also certain that in most, if not all, cases, you'll get
better information from ebooks like these than you will from most books in
print.
If you'd like to write and sell such an ebook yourself, here are some
suggestions:
· Write about something that a large group of people are interested in and
would be willing to spend money to learn about...
· Don't write about a "subject" - offer a point-by-point, workable SOLUTION
to a problem...
· Give information that you know from experience has
actually worked - not only for yourself, but also for
others...
· Make your writing as clear, simple and practical as you can...
· Don't use your ebook as an excuse to preach, point
fingers, or philosophize. Those things fit better in print
books - and, if you're in a hurry to get your important
opinion out to the world, there's always talk radio. :)
By the way, the ebook revolution is just beginning.
The "revolutionaries" who have discovered and applied the ideas reviewed in
this article have helped a lot of people and profited handsomely along the
way.
Fortunately, as the Internet grows and public acceptance of buying
information online grows with it, opportunities are expanding. Help
yourself... there are plenty more valuable ebooks to be written and sold.
